The wait is over. Today, Dext Solo was accredited by HMRC as compliant for MTD IT. This marks a milestone in Solo’s development, and signals a clear direction of travel for the accountants and bookkeepers who currently (or plan to) use our product.

As HMRC explains, if a solution is to make it onto that list it must be able to:

  • Create and store digital records of your business income and expenses

  • Send quarterly updates

  • Submit your tax return by 31 January after the end of the year

  • Receive information from HMRC

What does Solo being HMRC-recognised mean for you?

As we mentioned, this is big news for us – but how does Solo being accredited by HMRC benefit you and your clients?

Future-proof your firm

Above all, Dext’s place on HMRC’s list of accredited software providers affirms our position and ambition in this particular space. And for you, it provides concrete reassurance that you’re partnering with a software that’s going places.

Stay compliant

Compliance is, of course, the main driving force behind MTD IT. By design, Solo has always been specifically for MTD IT. But now, with official recognition, you can be fully confident that you’ll help to keep your clients compliant when using our product.

Improve your service offering

Very soon, there will be a large number of unincorporated, non-VAT-registered, self-employed and landlord clients looking for accountants and bookkeepers to help them with MTD IT. This number will only increase once the income threshold is lowered to £20,000 by the end of the current parliament. Firms with an accredited solution will be able to position themselves far more favourably.
